Taiwan Faucet Replacement Cost, DIY Steps, Lead-Free Marks

This article is general information for reference only and is not legal, tax, medical or engineering advice. Rules, fees and subsidies change; check the latest notice from the responsible authority before acting. For electrical, gas, structural or health risks, consult a licensed professional.

This is the English edition of a Chinese article, adapted with AI assistance and checked against the original. Where the two differ, the Chinese version and the official sources it cites prevail.

Faucet replacement cost is best read as four parts: the faucet itself, the installation price, the on-site inspection fee, and extras such as the angle stop valve (三角凡爾), the supply hose and the threaded fitting in the wall. Take the faucet price page of PRO360 as an example (the page shows a last update of 2023/11/01, checked 2026-11-07). Its first paragraph says replacing a faucet costs about NT$600 to NT$1,500 per set. The itemized price table gives NT$600 to NT$800 for replacing a traditional faucet (labor and materials included), NT$1,000 to NT$1,500 for installing a single-gun (單槍) or double-gun (雙槍) faucet (installation only), and NT$1,800 to NT$2,400 for a sensor faucet (installation only), where the sensor faucet price is above the range in the first paragraph and the page does not explain this. A tradesperson's on-site inspection is charged separately at NT$300 to NT$800. This is a sample from a single platform, not a fixed or standard price. For those who want to replace the faucet themselves, this article also sets out the steps, how to recognize the lead-free marking, and the situations in which you should stop and call a tradesperson.

How to split the cost: faucet, labor, inspection fee, extras

Quotes differ a lot usually because each company bundles different items together. Look at them separately first:

  1. The faucet itself: you buy it yourself, or ask the tradesperson to buy it for you. For a quote that includes buying it for you, ask clearly whether materials are included.
  2. Installation price: graded by faucet type (traditional, 單槍, 雙槍, sensor) and split into "labor and materials included" and "installation only".
  3. On-site inspection fee or travel fee: the PRO360 page says about NT$300 to NT$800 per visit, and explains that it must be paid even if no repair or replacement turns out to be needed.
  4. Extras: replacing the angle stop valve at the same time, replacing the water supply hose, a damaged threaded fitting in the wall, an old faucet that is stuck and cannot be removed, whether disposal of the old materials is needed, and so on. The PRO360 page lists the factors affecting price as faucet brand, style, the tradesperson's travel fee (varying by area) and whether disposal is needed, but it does not list prices for the angle stop valve and hoses, so this article does not give amounts for these two items.

Public platform prices: a sample of installation labor

Item (PRO360 price page, checked 2026-11-07)Price shown on the page (NT$ per set)Notes
Overall price range for replacing a faucet600 to 1,500The price range in the first paragraph of the page; among the itemized prices, the sensor faucet is above this range and the page does not explain this
Replacing a traditional faucet (labor and materials included)600 to 800Materials included
Installing a 單槍 faucet (installation only)1,000 to 1,500You supply the faucet
Installing a 雙槍 faucet (installation only)1,000 to 1,500You supply the faucet
Installing a sensor faucet (installation only)1,800 to 2,400You supply the faucet
On-site inspection fee or travel fee300 to 800 (per visit)Must be paid even if no repair is done

The page also lists prices for the faucet itself, for example kitchen faucets at NT$1,000 to NT$7,000 per set, and styles with special shapes or a retractable spout whose "price can reach over ten thousand". These are statements on that platform's page, prices differ greatly between sales channels, and this article does not treat them as a going rate. The page also states a last update of 2023/11/01 and a first publication of 2022/04/08, and says its prices are taken from the platform's quotes from 2024 to 2026. Treat it as a "reference when asking for prices" and not as a fixed price.

If you want to lay out a tradesperson's quote item by item, you can use the on-site repair quotation generator and fill in the faucet, labor, inspection fee and extras separately, which makes it easier to see which company left something out. When the faucet only drips and does not need to be replaced whole, you can also first read dripping faucet repair cost; in many cases you only need to replace the ceramic cartridge or the sealing washer, without replacing the whole faucet.

Basin, kitchen, shower, balcony washing-machine faucet: what to watch for in each

Faucets in different locations have different connections and installation methods. The PRO360 page also says: "the installation price of a bathroom faucet is about $600~$1,500 per set (faucet not included)", kitchen faucets are about the same, likewise about NT$600 to NT$1,500 per set (faucet not included); bathroom faucet bodies imported from China or Southeast Asia are about NT$500 to NT$2,000 per set. The table below only sets out "what to confirm before buying" and gives no spec numbers, because sizes depend on your site and the product manual; for pipe diameter (commonly called "how many fen pipe") and thread correspondence, the site already has a dedicated article: how to measure faucet specs and pipe diameter.

LocationWhat to confirm firstCommon extras
Basin (hand-washing sink)The number of faucet holes and the hole spacing in the countertop or basin must match the new faucet; whether the water supply is a hose connected to the angle stop valve or a wall-mounted outletAngle stop valve, supply hose, drain parts
KitchenCountertop-mounted or wall-mounted; whether the spout can rotate or retract; whether it is for drinking water (see the lead-free marking section)Angle stop valve, hose, fittings for water purification equipment
Shower (bathroom faucet)Exposed or concealed in the wall; the body of a concealed one is inside the wall, so the scope of replacement differsWall trim plate, valve cartridge body, tile repair
Balcony or washing-machine faucetThe type of fitting on the outlet must match the washing machine's inlet hoseAdapter, leak-stopping tape (止洩帶), threaded fitting in the wall

Take the installation instructions (version 202403) for OVO's three-hole basin faucet set F2501 as an example. The manual says to first confirm that the countertop or ceramic basin to be installed on already has faucet holes matching the diagram, and to confirm that the spacing of each faucet hole meets the product specification, so that mismatched spacing does not make installation impossible. The manual's diagram says "the faucet-hole spacing is generally recommended to be 120~150mm", and the recommended thickness range of the countertop or ceramic basin is 12~45mm. These are the conditions for this three-hole faucet; for single-hole or other types, see their own manuals, and they cannot be applied directly.

How to recognize lead-free faucet marks

The page "Understanding drinking-water faucets (LF)" from the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) (published 2018/03/09) says: from 1 January 2017, "drinking-water faucets" are placed within the scope subject to mandatory inspection (應施檢驗); the leaching amount of lead (Q value) must be no more than 5μg/L (that is, 5ppb); the lead content of faucet materials must not exceed 0.25%; the body must be marked "LF" (Lead Free) in a way that is not easily worn off, the outer packaging must be marked "for drinking water" (飲水用), and the body must carry the commodity inspection mark.

The page "How to choose drinking-water faucets" from the Taichung Branch (臺中分局) of the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) (published 2024/04/01) says that kitchen, drinking-water and lead-free faucets have been placed within the scope subject to mandatory inspection; when choosing, check whether the outer packaging has the words "for drinking water" (飲水用), whether the faucet carries the BSMI commodity inspection mark, and whether it has the LF marking. Neither page lists the national standard number, and neither says whether bathroom faucets or washing-machine faucets fall within the scope subject to mandatory inspection, so this article does not give the standard number and does not draw a conclusion on these two types; if in doubt, check the BSMI announcements. The two pages above were published in 2018 and 2024 respectively, and the current inspection scope follows the latest BSMI announcement; this article did not check whether it was adjusted afterwards.

In practice, when buying a kitchen faucet or one that comes into contact with drinking water, you can check three marks:

  • Whether the body has "LF".
  • Whether the body has the commodity inspection mark.
  • Whether the outer packaging has the words "for drinking water" (飲水用).

For how to deal with a faucet handle that has become stiff and for replacing the valve cartridge, see the on-site article stiff faucet handle and ceramic cartridge replacement DIY; for the inspection standards, follow the BSMI announcements.

Steps and tools for replacing a faucet yourself

The steps below are a general order of operations; the parts marked "manual" come from the OVO F2501 manual (version 202403); if your faucet is different, follow your own manual. The manual also says: "all damage or product abnormalities caused by incorrect installation or use are not covered by the warranty", so think about this before installing it yourself.

  1. Confirm the specifications: measure the connections and hole spacing, confirm the new and old faucets are compatible, and then decide whether to replace the angle stop valve at the same time.
  2. Turn off the water: close the angle stop valve first; if the angle stop valve does not close tightly or there is none, you need to close the main water valve of the unit. After shutting off the water, open the faucet to let the remaining water drain out.
  3. Remove the old faucet: remove the supply hose first, then the fixing nut and the body. When something will not budge, do not force it with a wrench; see "When to stop" below.
  4. Clean the connections: clear off old leak-stopping tape (止洩帶) and scale so that leftover debris does not get into the new faucet.
  5. Flush impurities out of the pipe: the manual says "be sure to run water from the inlet valve to flush impurities out of the pipe, otherwise it will cause weak water flow or damage to the ceramic cartridge", so before connecting the new faucet, briefly open the inlet valve to let water run, then close it.
  6. Connect the pipe: the manual says "the inlet valve should be wrapped with leak-stopping tape (止洩帶) before connecting to the water pipe". For the direction and number of turns of the tape, follow the manual.
  7. Fix the body: fix the faucet on the countertop according to the diagram and tighten the base screws. For the drain parts nut, follow the manual's reminder: "when tightening the nut, do not overtighten it, so as not to crack the basin or make the sealing washer lose its elasticity".
  8. Check with the water on: the manual's post-installation checks are: confirm the product is installed firmly and does not wobble; open the inlet valve and check all connections for leaks; open the faucet handle, operate each switch, and confirm the water flow and whether there is any leakage.

As for tools, the contents of that manual include an L-shaped wrench and leak-stopping tape (止洩帶); others commonly used are an adjustable wrench, a bucket and a rag, for catching remaining water and wiping dry. On water pressure, the manual for this three-hole faucet says "the applicable water pressure is 1.5-5 kgf/cm2"; when the supply pressure is insufficient a booster pump must be added, and when it is too strong a pressure-reducing valve must be added; different faucets have different pressure ranges, so follow each one's own manual.

When not to do it yourself

The following is general work experience, not a quote from a source. In these situations it is advisable to stop and have an experienced plumber/electrician (水電師傅) handle it, because once something breaks, the scope of the repair will be much larger than one faucet:

  • The thread of a wall-mounted hot and cold faucet is stuck, and when you apply force with a wrench the fitting inside the wall turns with it. If the thread breaks off inside the wall, the wall has to be opened.
  • The angle stop valve will not close tightly and keeps dripping. If the water cannot be shut off, the faucet cannot be removed safely, and the shut-off valve or main water valve needs to be dealt with first.
  • The body of a concealed shower faucet needs to be replaced. This involves the piping and wiring inside the wall and the tiles.
  • Fittings are clearly rusted or joints are brittle and cracked.
  • After connecting, it keeps seeping or the water flow is weak, and you still cannot find the cause after checking it yourself.
  • Before or after moving, or in a rental, if you are not sure which things you may change yourself, ask the landlord first.

If, after the tradesperson arrives and assesses the job, replacement is judged unsuitable or extra work is needed, the inspection fee is roughly the cost at that point. The PRO360 price page states that the inspection fee must be paid even if no repair is done, so before calling someone, take photos to confirm the connections and the leak location, which will make the quote more accurate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to replace a faucet?

It depends on whether you supply the faucet or labor and materials are included. A sample from the PRO360 price page: replacing a traditional faucet with labor and materials included is NT$600 to NT$800, installing a single-gun (單槍) or double-gun (雙槍) faucet (installation only) is NT$1,000 to NT$1,500, and installing a sensor faucet (installation only) is NT$1,800 to NT$2,400, plus an on-site inspection fee of NT$300 to NT$800. This is a page from a single platform, last updated 2023/11/01; in practice, ask several companies.

What does LF on a faucet mean?

The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) page says "LF" stands for Lead Free, and requires that the body of a drinking-water faucet be marked in a way that is not easily worn off. It also requires that the leaching amount of lead be no more than 5μg/L and that the lead content of the material not exceed 0.25%.

Do bathroom and washing-machine faucets also need LF?

The BSMI pages above only say that drinking-water, kitchen and lead-free faucets are placed within the scope subject to mandatory inspection, and do not mention bathroom and washing-machine faucets. To confirm whether a certain type of product is within the inspection scope, check the BSMI announcements or ask about the product marking.

Will replacing it myself affect the warranty?

It depends on each manual. The OVO F2501 manual says "all damage or product abnormalities caused by incorrect installation or use are not covered by the warranty". Whether you install it yourself or hire a tradesperson, it is advisable to keep the manual and the work records.

Must the angle stop valve always be replaced together with the faucet?

Not necessarily, but if the angle stop valve is old, does not close tightly or seeps, it is advisable to deal with it at the same time, otherwise it will still leak after the new faucet is fitted. For the specs and shopping list of angle stop valves, see the on-site article how to measure faucet specs and pipe diameter.
