Floor heating systems are mainly divided into two physical camps. There are fundamental differences in heat source conduction and construction methods:
1. Water floor heating system (hot water circulation):
1. In pressure-resistant hot water pipelines, the floor is heated by closed circulation of hot water in the pipelines.
2. It has uniform and gentle heat dissipation, no electromagnetic waves, and under long-term operation in a large area (such as more than 30 square meters), it has the highest energy consumption efficiency and saves subsequent operating costs.
3. The diameter of water floor heating pipes is relatively thick (about 16mm-20mm), and thermal insulation boards must be laid under the pipes (to prevent heat from being conducted downward). After the pipes are installed, cement mortar backfilling (leveling layer, about 3-5 cm thick) must be carried out. This will cause the entire floor to be "raised by 6 to 8 centimeters", which will have a significant impact on the clear ceiling height and significantly increase the building's load-bearing capacity. It is more suitable for pre-sale housing or rough housing construction.
2. Electric floor heating system (heating cable, electric heating film):
1. Directly utilize the heating cable buried under the floor (usually arranged under the bathroom tiles) or the ultra-thin electric heating film (configured under the wooden floor) to generate resistance heat through current to heat the floor.
2. The body is very thin (the thickness of the electric heating film is usually less than 1mm, and the outer diameter of the cable is about 4-6mm). Construction is very fast and does not affect the floor height very much (usually only 1-2 cm). The heating speed is fast (you can feel it in half an hour to one hour), and no pipeline maintenance is required.
3. The electricity bill for later operation will be more expensive, so it is suitable for local installation in small areas (such as bathroom moisture-proof foot warmers and master bedrooms).

Floor heating electricity bill analysis: Will it go bankrupt if you drive it for a whole day?

Many homeowners worry that after installing electric floor heating, their electricity bills will be exorbitantly high. We take the installation of "electric floor heating" in a 10-square-meter master bedroom in Taipei as an example to calculate the energy consumption:
- In Taiwan's climate, the floor heating power configuration per square meter is approximately between 400W and 500W. The total power for a 10 square meter living room is approximately 4,500W (4.5 kW).
